As Johann Franz Amadeus he was born at 24.10.1781 in Klosterfreiheit. The Protestantic rewrite of names
translate Amadeus with Gottlieb, where the convertation from the Catholic to the Evangelic
confession comes clear. Gottlieb has married in Berlin the born there Henriette Luckow. He was educated by the Berlinian chapelmaster Johann Friedrich Reichardt in Giebichenstein, who was the father of the intended of Franz Gareis. Gottlieb Gareis became a chamber musician and viola player at the Hofkapelle (court-chapel) of Berlin. At 1802 he belongs as a violinist to the Berlinian National-Theatre. First at 1805 he made in viola player and was even soloist in concerts.
Conservated works: 1847 he was pensionied. He died at 20.11.1859 in Berlin and left behind one son and three daughters. His son Albert Gareis became also a chamber musician. |
